Fetal cystic hygromas are congenital malformations of the lymphatic system appearing as single or multiloculated fluid-filled cavities, most often about the neck. The cyst walls are lined with a single layer of flattened endothelium supported by
a
connective tissue stroma.. The fluid within the cyst is serous, being clear or straw-colored and occasionally blood-stained.
